AAMI
Aami’ -
is a documentation of lives of the inmates of a destitute
children's home in Madhyamgram. The film is conceptualized,
scripted, directed and cinematographed by the children themselves
with support of co-ordinators. It shows inherent optimism
in the heart of these not so privileged kids.
The
film has won the Jury Prize and Best Documentary in Kids
for Kids Film Festival, organized by CIFEJ, in 2004.
Aami
has also been screened at Chicago Int’l film festival,
Cairo Int’l Film Festival for Children and various
other children’s film festivals worldwide. Recently,
the film has been invited to be shown at The Oprah Winfrey
Show, Chicago, IL 60607. |

The
film has been selected for screening in Kids for Kids
film festival, worldwide children’s film festival,
organized by CIFEJ in association with ECTC. There were
120 entries from 23 countries for the festival held in
Athens between June 18 and 21. Aami is the only selected
entry from Asia. “The quality of the films was
astonishing, a pre-selection jury gathered in Montreal
last week and was impressed by the project’s enormous
potential and ability to encourage and motivate people
all over the world”, says Jo-Anne Blouin, Executive
Director, CIFEJ. The child director, Ashikul Islam is
one of the participants who has been invited to be on
Kids for Kids Jury.
Aami has also been screened at Chicago Int’l film festival,
