Synopsis

Raja Bahadur Deb Narayan Barua, the octogenarian Zeminder left behind him vast Zemindari and fabulous wealth to his only survivor, teenaged grandson Bulu. He once proposed to his most intimate and only friend Zeminder Lakhi Narayan Chowdhury that should they happen to beget a son and a daughter, surely they would be wedded to each other. But destiny acted otherwise -that expectation did not materialise.

Hemaprova Chowdhury, the widowed wife of late Lakhi Narayan Chowdhury happened to visit Deb Narayan Barua in his place with Amit, Nilu and Manashi, the children of her only son Manindra. Deb Narayan Barua was simply charmed with hergrand-daughter Manashi and he wasted no time to beg Manashi for his only grandson Bulu in front his Deva-Mandir, the family temple. Under very sad and compelling circumstances Hemaprova conceded with a heavy heart and an embarrassed mind. . Things flowed fast with incredible acceleration. . . Hymns of final 'Sampradan' echoed and the wedding of the two minors reached a complete consummation according to the Vedic system of the Hindus. But at the very moment at the obsession of absolute emotional ecstasy Deb Narayan breathed his last. . . Chitra, the wife of Manindra and daughter-in-law of Hemaprova couldnot reconcile herself to this marriage. Being driven to the point of crazyness with sorrow, hatred and wrath, Chitra dragged her daughter Manashi and attempted to wipe off the 'Sindur' the sacred sign of marriage from he forehead. . . Day in - day out . . . and years rolled on. . . Bulu found him self all alone in this wide world. Chitra exerted herself in imparting highest education to Manashi as well as in assciating her with the ultra-modern way of life. Bulu lost himself in the surging vastness of the world. . . Chitra started searching frantically for a befitting groom of a posh society and left no stone unturned for Manashi's wedding. . . But Manashi ? . . . The echo of the Vedic hymns in her adolescent heart, the eternal tie of a Hindu marriage, the sweet memories of her budding twin life ?. . . Were those all trash ? All fun ?. . . Where's Bulu ? Has he really been lost ?. . .
