Rai Bahadur Kanti Choudhury,
The Octogenarian Zeminder left behind him first Zemindari & fabulous
wealth to his only survivor teenaged Grand Son Bulu. He
once proposed to his most intimate and only friend Zeminder
Nerendra Choudhury that should they happen to beget a son & daughter,
surely they would be wedded to each other. But destiny
acted otherwise-that expectation did not materialise.
Hemaprova Devi widowed wife of Late Nerendra
Choudhury happened to visit Kanti Babu in his place with
Amit,
Sidhu and Taposhi, the children of her only son Mohendra.
Kanti Choudhury was simply charmed with her grand-daughterTaposhi
and hewasted no time to beg Taposhi for his only grandson
Bulu in front of his Deva-Mandir, the family temple.
Under very sad and compelling circumstances Hemaprova
Devi conceded with a heavy heart and an embarrassed mind......things
followed fast with incredible acceleration......Hyrnns
and final "Sampradan" echoed and the wedding
of the two minors reached a complete consummation according
to the wedding system of the Hindus. But at the very
moment at the obsession of absolute emotional ecstasy
Kanti Choudhury breathed his last......Chitra, the wife
of Mohendra and daughter-in-law of Hemaprova could not
reconcile herself to this marriage. Being driven to the
point of crazyness with sorrow, hatred and wrath, Chilra
dragged her daughter Taposhi and attempted to wipe off
the "Sindur" the scared sign of marriage from
the forehead......Day in?day out..... and years
rolled on......Bulu found himself all alone in this wide
world. Chitra exerted herself in imparting highest education
to Taposhi as well as in assciating her with the ultra-modren
way of life. Bulu lost himself in the surging vastness
of the world...Chitra started searching frantically for
a befitting groom of a posh society and left no stone
unturned for Taposhi's wedding.. ButTaposhi ?... The
echo of the wedding hymny inner adolescent heart, the
eternal tie of a Hindu marriage, the sweet memmories
of her budding twin life ?...Were those all trash ? All
fun ?...Were is Bulu ? Has he really been lost ?...
